Meet the team
RMW Commerce always strives to bring the most experienced digital operating team to any engagement. The team contains C-level executives and experienced operators to offer our clients the best service.
Rick Watson, Founder & CEO
In February of 2019, I formed my own eCommerce consulting firm, after spending the last 20 years as a technology entrepreneur and operator exclusively in the eCommerce industry with companies like ChannelAdvisor, Barnes & Noble.com, Merchantry, and Pitney Bowes. In addition to my expertise, I have a vast network of industry experts and talent across marketing, business development and solutions providers to add bench strength to larger projects and initiatives. My practice areas are centered around helping investors and management teams grow their digital commerce initiatives: from assessment, to planning, all the way through execution.
Through a combination of candor, business acumen, strategy, and commerce technology expertise, I help companies quickly see and eliminate their roadblocks to growth.
How I do this?
I build authentic relationships and trust with you and your team.
I validate change that your team knows needs to take place, but for various reasons have not acknowledged or properly addressed.
I ensure you have focus and are prioritizing initiatives core to your brand.

I was one of the first employees at ChannelAdvisor, spending 10 years there in various executive capacities and launching many of the company’s flagship offerings. After ChannelAdvisor, I was recruited to launch the third-party marketplace at Barnes & Noble.com, expanding the company’s product catalog by over 1 million items. After the successful marketplace launch, I was selected as CEO of Merchantry and led the company to a $30M acquisition by Tradeshift. Upon fulfilling the transition obligations of Merchantry to Tradeshift, I directed the cross-border product strategy of Pitney Bowes, a $450M business, comprised of Borderfree and the eBay Global Shipping Program.
Visit the press section for more of my commentary on marketplaces, eCommerce and retail including features in Bloomberg, Silicon Valley Business Journal and Wall Street Journal. I share insights on these topics in my blog and on LinkedIn.
