How Will Crypto Wallets Work In the Future Of eCommerce Marketing?
One of the goals of the crypto movement is that you can trade (virtually) anonymously without revealing your data to any third-party intermediaries. This has some interesting properties but in the long-term I think this will lose out to the mainstream use cases.
For instance. Access to new merchandise is going to be one of the most popular NFT use cases - where the NFT is a token representing a key to exclusive merchandise, or time-limited exclusive merchandise. Those NFTs could of course be distributed to "random" users, but, even today, bounty airdrops are given to a self-selecting group of followers.
Marketers are going to want to add this to the "zero party" data they keep on a consumer, in case you want to send new tokens to consumers in the future based on behavior, access to events (whether physical or virtual) , etc.
Are people going to end up treating wallets as they do "inboxes"? One for private collections, and one for public purposes that you only keep things in temporarily?
